PARLIAMENT STREAK! |
Women in court after naked stroll in York |
TWO young women stripped to their boots, walked along crowded York streets and posed nude for a video and photographs as afternoon shoppers looked on, a court heard. |
Lindsay Wheatcroft, 19, strolled naked around the city centre with another female on May 25 this year. |
She told Selby magistrates she walks around naked every day, and was only initially wearing a coat on May 25 because it was a cold day. She said she then took it off because she was hot. |
Lindsay was found guilty of threatening, abusive, insulting or disorderly behaviour and fined £250. Her co-defendant, Gina Lorenz, 25, was convicted of aiding, abetting, counseling or procuring Lindsay in her offence and was fined £300. |
Gina filmed the women, and directed them to strike various sexual poses as they walked towards High Petergate. |
The court watched the video, which showed Lindsay and the other female remove long coats, before striding along Stonegate in nothing but long, black boots. |
Gina tells the women how to pose and can be heard photographing them in various positions. |
The video showed members of the public, including pensioners and young children, walking just a few feet from the women, who are also shown posing for a photograph with a football fan. |
The women were naked for about ten minutes, before they were spotted and stopped by PC Paul Hopson. One of the women is heard saying they are shooting a documentary. |
Lindsay, a student hairdresser from Blackpool, told the court they had traveled to York with Gina for a day out. Gina of Preston, works as a photographer in Blackpool. |
Asked by defence solicitor, Paolo Passerini, what they did in York, Lindsay said: "We walked around for a bit then decided to walk through the town naked." |
She said they wanted to make a home video, and denied their behaviour was an offence. She said: "Nobody was complaining - they were cheering us un." |
Prosecutor Sabrina Hartshorn asked why she had worn a coat at all. |
Lindsay said: "It wasn't too warm out." Asked why she then took it off, she replied: "Because I got quite hot actually." |
Gina told the court she did not believe people could be offended by the women's behaviour. She said: "I thought they would laugh and they would like it." |
Presiding magistrate said many of the poses were "undoubtedly sexually explicit." |
She told Lindsay: "You must have been aware that your behaviour was at the very least insulting." |
In addition to the fines, Lindsay and Gina were both bound over for a year and told to pay £125 costs each. |
